MAPS on the Air and in the News

As the wild and woolly year that was 2010 winds down, we wanted to share some links with you about IN MAPS & LEGENDS that we hope you’ll check out, starting with…

A podcast! We chatted with Fes and Mark at The Webcomic Beacon on December 20th, and the podcast is now live. It was a great chat, and I hope we helped spread the word about digital comics and helped bridge the gap between webcomics and digital. I found it really educational, getting Niki’s perspective as well as Fes and Mark’s. Plus, they seem like really cool guys, and Mark has an awesome radio deejay’s voice.

Then there are the online interviews and articles that popped up this month:

  • Earlier this month, the hard-working Brigid Alverson published an in-depth interview at Robot 6 with Niki and me about MAPS and digital comics, as well as our whole Zuda experience.
  • Brigid also mentioned MAPS, as well as Niki and me, as a bit of a pioneer in the digital comics realm, in an extensive end-of-the-year roundtable at ComixTalk (scroll down a bit on this page, but read the whole article!).
  • And MAPS had a quick mention here, too: “DMP launches manga for the Nook” (we’re one of the few color comics available on the Nook, it appears).
  • Finally, another fine interview with Michael J. Nimmo at 3 Million Years, as well as a Spotlight article about the comic there.

Now, let me slip some advertising/shilling in here: Are you voting every day for IN MAPS & LEGENDS at TopWebcomics.com? Click here and vote daily!

We also have some distributor news to share:

  • First, check out the new Graphic.ly Web viewer, which lets you read IN MAPS & LEGENDS online, without having to download their Adobe Air reader. You can find issues 1-3 here — it’s nice to be able to link directly to an issue, at last!
  • And speaking of Graphic.ly’s downloadable reader, you can at last see some of the nifty “Bonus Features” we’ve added to issues 1-3 of MAPS, including the scripts for each issue, and — best of all — the ink-only version of the art, which you can see by “erasing” Niki’s (wonderful) colors, using a paintbrush-like tool.
  • We just went live with English and German versions of issues 1-3 at the XinXii site, which has a strong presence overseas, mainly in Europe. So grab your Euros, readers across the pond, and get to reading!

Whew. That’s about it, I think. I hope! Please check out some of the sites about, leave some comments where you can, and do some more exploring on those sites. Share the love, okay?
